Hi, I have a Windows PE CD that I use to access if the windows of the computer is crashed. But I could not access a computer with a SATA Hard Disk with Windows PE CD, so do you think I can add the SATA drivers into the Windows PE system folder and burn it again on a CD and that it would allow my Windows PE recognize the SATA Hard Disk?

I appreciate your assistance

You could perhaps try upgrading the version of the PE you're using, if it's an XP based PE update it to Vista and that should work just fine.

The real world is not about exam scores, it's about ability.

Hi Simon, I would like to know how you can upsate windows XP PE to Windows Vista PE

Isn't Recovery Console an option for you, that has a F6 routine to get Sata drivers loaded?

How to install and use the Recovery Console in Windows XP

Windows Recovery Technical Reference

BartPE also has a F6 routine for Sata drivers.
BartPE is a mini XP self contained on a bootable CD and run from CD.

Go to and download it from there. I don't have any experience with this particular site because my PE is just for PXE boot and done via System Center Configuration Manager as well.

When I had this SATA driver problem I was advised to look for a Legacy option in the BIOS for the SATA controller, this put it into IDE mode which worked for me, no need for SATA drivers. :)
