I wish to add the records from 1 table to another using objectpal, however the receiving table has an equivalent field shorter than in the main table that the records are coming from. For example the "first name" field in the main table is 10 characters in size but in the receiving table it is 1 character, so that the first name is shortened to an initial. Interactively in paradox you are just asked if you wish to trim the fields and I do this manually but in the objectpal coding I get the error message incompatible structure. Is there a command that will automatically trim the field?

Many thanks,

Lewy

There is certainly a way to adjust the field contents in both tables with objpal code.
But you could also reformat the smaller field of the one table to the larger one of the other. Open the table with the shorter (alpha) field and reformat this field:
Format > Restructure Table > Field Roster tab > Size. To get more information, click the help button there.
