Adding random and unique number

Hello,

I have designed an invoice report that needs to pick up a random and unique invoice number. This number needs to remain in the report permanently. (i.e. even after re-opening the report).

Any help would be much appreciated.

the generic issue has been addressed in htese fora recently. it was generally panned as a bad idea gone awry.

mayhap some crazed instructor has posed it as a problem for confuse and confound a class (or two)?
