Adding printers to AutoCAD R14

Just started a new position and I have little AutoCAD R14 support knowledge.

I'm trying to add a networked Savin 2408c printer to AutoCAD R14 and it's not exactly playing out very well. Is there a way to add the printer by IP address? It keeps trying to add the printer through the Novell networking services (which in itself is a huge mess and I would love to stay away from until I can get it sorted out). I can ping the printer fine and can print documents to it from MS Office, but every time I try the IP address in AutoCAD R14 it says "printer cannot be found".

Any help to see if I've overlooked something would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, It's a Windows XP machine that I'm referring to.

AutoCAD R14 is probably not going to tolerate any kind of IP Address at all. Even AutoCAD 2000/2000i is not supported on XP. You're probably going to need to name a port the old fashioned way in order for R14 to find it and then install the printers using PC2 files instead of system printer drivers.

Probably not what you were hoping to hear, but I hope that helps!
