I have bought some Plantronics CT10 cordless headsets that are said to be compatible with a MLX series phone via the Multi Function Module. could anyone please tell me if there is a special cable required (the normal on is very hard to connect to the MLX) or if there is anything needed to activate the module as there was no dial tone when I plugged it in,
thanks

Are you connecting the line to the MFM module or the handsets RJ9 connnector?

If you are using a MFM be aware that it is a separate extension from the MLX phone to which it is connected. There are two sets of jumpers on the MFM which must be set for tip/ring operation. One set is W & Y on, the other set is A & B on. You may also need to program the auto line selection for the MFM extension depending on your needs. MFMs are assigned extensions 710-767 in the dialing plan, so if your MLX extension is x10, then the MFM should be x710. Brian Cox

MFM needs a power supply to operate is it pluged in , if you plug a home style phone is their dial tone, then call your operator to find your extension , on a MFM you can program a call coverage to your MLX extension
