Adding PCI video card; disabling on board video in NetVista 1

I have an IBM NetVista 2254/G05 desktop. It has an Intel 810e onboard video adapter. Several games I have purchased recently are 'hanging' at initial startup. The company said that I needed a newer video card. I bought/installed an nVidia GEForce4 MX440 PCI card, and installed it. Windows ME recognized it, and loaded the new drivers from the CD that came with the card. My monitor is plugged into the new card. Everything seemed to be fine. But the games are still hanging. The device mgr has the old 810e video adapter disabled (I did that manually). dxdiag shows that the nVidia card is now being used. EA Games (manufacturer) says that they think the 810e video adapter may still be causing some interference, as something is using up 2MB of RAM and they suspect it's the on board video. Does anyone know if I have to do something else to disable it? Is there a jumper switch on the NetVista mother board (I can't find it in any documentation - how would I recognize it?). Or does it still need to be disabled in Setup (BIOS)? Do the old device drivers need to be removed?

Thanks for any advice.

I would think there should be an option within the BIOS to disable on-board video.
You will also need to remove the old drivers as these will be causing problems.
Have you downloaded the latest drivers for the new video card?
Also I would be inclined to install the latest drivers for all of your other hardware, including the motherboard. Especially the AGP driver.
Windows ME is very buggy. Have you got all the updates for ME installed?

You do have to disable onboard video in the bios for the netvista, and for most others as well.
So you need to go into the bios on bootup and find the place where you can disable onboard vid, should be pretty easy to find.
