We have a voice mail machine running SCO 5.0.6 with 4 ISA dialogic voice boards. When we attempt to add a 3COM 905C PCI card the ISA voice boards no longer are recognized. Here is our procedure.

Install 3COM drivers using 'custom'
reboot, ISA cards found.
Shut down
Physically install NIC
boot
Voice cards not found.

Therefore I do not even get to netconfig since the NIC is making me loose the ISA cards.
Any ideas?

Try and go to the machine setup, and reserve the IRQ's that the ISA boards use for ISA only. How to do this will depend on your bios manufacturer.

We did reserve IRQ 12 - 15 for the ISA boards and set the boards to take those spots.

Sorry, No it does not work. We thought that the IRQ must be the issue but there is no conflice there. Can it be something dealing with the setting you use when you go into netconfig and it asks you those 3 questions regarding bus, etc?

If it wasn't the IRQ's then it is most probably a memory address problem.

Have a look at what memory adresses are being taken by the ISA and look and see if the PCI is trying to use the same ones (or part of them). You may need to configure the PCI board to use another set of memory.

Some bios will also have some memory parameters that can be changed. Have a look at all the BIOS settings and see if any may affect this behaviour.

I would also try and change the PCI board from one slot to another one free.

When you say that the ISA cards are not seen, are they not seen by the machine or just by SCO.

If those boards have a MS-DOS setup utility I would try and boot on DOS mode (floppy) and run them to see if they are detected.

And no on your case I don't think that netconfig changes would work at all.
