Is there a way to add visible page numbers to a book in Quark? I’m making a literary magazine for our school and all that’s left is the page numbers, but I don’t know how to do it. I want the page numbers to all be in the same place on each page, to make for easy browsing. Our book consists of double page spreads and division pages.

Is there a way that you can program Quark to automatically add the correct page number to each page in the same spot? I’ve tried the master page and Ctrl-3 technique, but it never numbers the other pages (I can never see the actual page numbers). It’s really coming down to the wire here, and I need some help.

Thanks for any input; I’m really stressing about this.

The auto page number needs to be applied to the master pages (left and right masters), the pages in the pages palette also need to be linked to the master pages to work properly...

...so for example, in the pages palette any pages that have a letter in the middle of the page icon are linked to a master, "A" is the usual default...

...if the pages icons have no letter in the middle, they aren't linked to master, and will not therefore show the auto-numbering applied to a master page...

...to fix it you have to apply a master page to the pages that aren't being numbered...

...unlike indesign, quark doesn't make this a one click operation, you have to do it manually...

...you also have to be carful with layering and runarounds, ensuring objects don't interfere with the page numbers...

...when i say manually, i mean "drag and drop" a master page on top of a page in the pages palette below...

...the alternative is to apply basic page numbering using acrobat pro after PDF creation from quark...
