In the Server I renamed a user when they left the company to the new person who took their place. So Fred User was renamed to Sally User. But when I tried to create that user in Control Panel Users in the XP Pro laptop they will use, it still said Fred User and Sally User did not exit in the domain.
Back at the Server: Then I renamed Sally User back to Fred User and tried to add a new user called Sally User but the Server said Sally User already existed.
So is there a way to refresh it or what’s going on here?

Delete the user, and start from scratch. I'd never try to rename a user to someone else. Delete the old user and create a new one.

Ok
I thought I remembered an option on a previous server version to copy a user, So you get all the permissions, etc. is this avaiable? If so how is it done.

DougP

Yes, you can copy if you have extensive permissions setup. You simply choose the user, right click and choose Copy.

Well I don't see it. I guess which is why I asked.
Here are my options when I reight click a user
Add user to a group
Change password
Disable Account
Rename user
Remove user
Properties
Help

Are you a Domain Admin? Copy should be the first option.

I guess, I'm logged in as Administrator.

This is SBS 2003 if that matters. But some things on this server are not right anyway, I did not set it up.

You should ALWAYS use the wizards in SBS. ALWAYS

ALWAYS

ALWAYS

FOR EVERYTHING - Users, computers, groups, etc.

I think what Pat is saying is you should use the wizard to create the new user. ;-)

Glad that was clear! :)
