This is probably a very easy thing to do, but I'm very new to access and I'm under the gun here, so I apolgize for asking a question that is problably posted in a faq somewhere. I have a database that is set up as follows:

I am using Access 97.
I have 3 tables linked by a primary key.
The tables are displayed on a form/subform arrangement.
Due to the constraints of the form/subform setup I had to link the forms through a query. (Otherwise, I couldn't do a search)
PROBLEM: I can't add a new record, since each of the tables must have the same primary key. As soon as I try to add the new record, access complains that the field does not exist in the other tables, and will not let me proceed any further.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you really mean that ?

Or do you mean you have a Table with a Primary Key and two other tables with Foreign Keys so that

Table1 One:Many Table2
Table1 One:Many Table3

If you REALLY do mean what you said then why aren't all the fields in the same table ?

Thanx...I needed that! I got caught with 'forest for trees syndrome'! I've changed the design to having only one table and everything works! (I inherited this db, so I assumed that there was a good reason for the structure...there wasn't!

Again, LittleSmudge, I thank you!
