Hi,
I added a new field to my ACT Contact Detail and I do see it, but another user doesn't see the new field eventhough I saved it.
I added the new field doing the following:
Tools
Design Layouts
Contacts
Field

Why is it not showing on the other person's pc.
Thanks in advance

Sorry I was wrong, I went to Tootls -Preferences-General -and the location of the database is: C:\Document and setting\....
is this where the problem is? the location? I am going to check the other person's pc and see where his database is stored.
thanks

It's probably looking at a PAD file, which can be on easch user's local machine. Open the PAD file in Notepad and see tht the pointer is looking at the same machine

I really appreciate your help. As you can tell I am new to ACT.
I opened the file in Notepad and this is what I got:

<?xml version="1.0" standalone="no"?>
<!DOCTYPE ACTDatabasePADFile>
<!--This file represents a Pointer to an Act Database or [PAD]-->
<ACTDatabase name="ACT9Demo" host="(local)" location="" type="SQL" />

Obviously the database is stored in network drive, how do I find that?
Thanks

Yes, my fault. I right click the demo. Here is the database:

<?xml version="1.0" standalone="no"?>
<!DOCTYPE ACTDatabasePADFile>
<!--This file represents a Pointer to an Act Database or [PAD]-->
<ACTDatabase name="CDProspects" host="LIFEGROUP" location="D:\Sys\ACT DATA" type="Sql" />

and I can see the location.

Now I am confused, I clickee on CDProspects and I can see the change I made yesterday.

Make sure each user has the same Database and host in the PAD file they are using.

Also, changes to the layout can require the user to exit and restart ACT!

The other user has the same host: <ACTDatabase name="CDProspects" host="LIFEGROUP" location="D:\Sys\ACT DATA" type="Sql" />
but still can't see the change I made. What's more interesting is: I made him follow the above link instead of using his short cut and still can't see it.

So, you CAN see changes in the database? But not in a Layout?

Have a look at the bottom left of the screen... and make sure both users are using the same layout

I am sorry not reply so soon, the problem is solved. The person who couldn't see the changes I made did not have admin rights. We gave him admin rights and now it's working.

Depending on how you set it up, it shouldn't require admin access (did you mean for Windows, Domain or ACT!?)... but glad it's working for you now
