Hello All! One of my remote locations is adding a Muzak system to a SX 2000 non-redundant system. I was going thru my Technician's handbook and I found nothing on it. I had heard something about a music port in the Mitel system...please advise...brotherrat1 (ps...please include all the information that you can!!!!!)

Start in your SYSTEM CONFIG form. Program an E&M trunk card for one of the unused slots. Insert the E&M card in the appropriate slot that you gave it in Sys Config. Wire the MOH source audio to the MOD side of the 4-wire E&M trunk, then go to your MISC form and put the PLID info for the trunk there. I have a faint rememberance that you then have to pop the E&M card out & back in. You'll also need to build a circuit descriptor for the trunk but here I think default values will work, just make sure it's 4-wire not 2-wire.

All this is fuzzy going back to the late 1980s so no guarantee but I think what I told you will work.

You will also need some external way to adjust the level.

Good luck

Look in your Tech Manual For "Music On Hold" (MOH), you should find complete instructions.

In addition to the above post, I believe you need to enable MOH in the Class Of Service (COS)

You can also use a dnis MOH paging module cheaper than a e&m card
system option assignment form enable music on hold
Class of service enable local moh
DNI form program a dmp to a plid
Misc form assign the plid of the DNIC moh module

You can pickup an MC342 4-port E&M trunk card right now (04-19-2006) on eBay for the "Buy It Now" price of 15 dollars.

Maybe it's just me, but I find the DMP module something of a pain in the ass. I would consider it only if you already have it and do not have an available slot for an MC342 E&M card.

If you're able to find a DMP module somewhere you're just as apt to spend a couple more hours searching for the documentation for it. Yes, it's documented, but you'll have to dig to find it. - Hint: training module for LW30.

To add music to a 2k via DMP

System Options form enable music on hold
Class of Service Enable local music on hold source
Dni assignment form add DMP tp both channels
Misc form add the plid of the DMP
Jumper pair 25 on the DMP is the dnic port
Pair 7 on the DMP is for the pair to the AMP
