Adding license on line on INFORMIX

Hi,

I have intstalled Informix Dynamic Server 7.30 for 32 users under Sco Openserver 5.0.5 , and I need to add another 16 users licence to informix without uninstalling it.
How can I make this?

Hi,

1- Shut Down the engine (ONMODE -kY).

Just run ./installserver

and enter the new Licence and Key when prompted.

The ./installserver will "Re-Brand " all files.

By thw way, you don't need to uninstall.

The installserver program doesn't destroy any DATA FILEs (RAW or COOKED) or other config files.

2- Bring the engine UP (ONINIT -V)

I forgot ...

You will need a new 48 USERS Licence, instead of two ... Is not possible "Join" two licences.

Please contact IBM and order a new licence.

Hi,

You don't need to reinstall as there is no software
control of the number of users.
Informix tried to setup a licence manager in old days
(online 5.0) but stopped it due to a lot of bugs.

You have to perform a tradeup (32 -> 48 users) and
then keep the new licence number as a certificate of
your 48 users licence.
