Hi
It seems like my company is using a bit old-fashioned phone system however it works with no problems whatsoever.
The configuration is simple IP403 and one IP400 module. From what I can see in management tool they're version 3.0 (580).
As I need to add users to the system and ran out of ports I decided to use another IP400 module which is probably version 1.3.
If possible can somebody give me quick preview on the questions below.
- do I have to upgrade the module to make it work with existing system
- if so can you give me few hints on upgrading it
- once ready to be used is it just the case of pluging it in with Cat5e cable to free extenstion slot
- if successful should it appear on 'Unit' list in Avaya manager or additional steps are required?

Any help is welcome and much appreciated.

yes it needs upgrading. it needs to be connected to expansion port 2 using the blue shielded cable provided with the module. using a cat5e cable will give you problems.

ill have a look for the upgrade paths at that level, dont know them off the top of my head.

The module needs to be connected to the 403
Then you MUST reboot the 403 to be regornized !!!

Then you need to upgrade module with manager

Download the techbulletin that belongs to 3.0.580

And as tom already says, you need to use the blue original cable !!!!!

Make sure the Manager is 5.0(580) using help>about. That way it should contain the correct .bin files.
