Adding Index Entries

Could someone please tell me if there's some rule I overlooked about closing an index in PageMaker 7? Here's my problem: I was building an index, got bored after about two hours, saved my work, and made some coffee. After a while I opened the file in which I had been working, switched to story edit, then went to Utilities/Change and attempted to add an index entry to the existing index. The little diamond entry marker appeared next to the text I had chosen, so I x-ed out of the Utilities/Change dialog box and went to Utilities/Show Index. For some reason the entry I thought I had just added wasn't there -- only the entries that I had added before I got bored and went to make coffee. What did I do wrong? Or does PageMaker 7 decide an index is finished once it's been closed and
the file has been saved?

Thank you profusely,

Phil

If you build an index, then make changes after the fact, you will have to build the index again.

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
