Adding ID numbers to existing charts

Hi, hope someone can help with this and save me some time. I've done 8 pages of flowcharting and now I've reviewed it I realise it would have been much better with an id number at each step. I've found out how to add an id field but this deletes all the text I've already entered.

Can anyone offer any advise other then editing each step?

There is and example called "Add Shape Numbers" at

It designed for a specific application, but should be easily modifiable for your purposes.
