At both mkdevs you define the controller type, usually default to what you have, then specify which one , usually 0, then give the device ID, usually 1, and LUN , 0.
At the 2nd mkdev you get to divvy the drive, where you name the division (whatever you want--just remember the name you give it) and tell it to make a new file system , q for quit and i for install and it will format and make it ready.
Then at mkdev fs you tell it the name you gave the division and where you want to attach it. Tell it no users to mount it and you are done.
Should take less than 15 minutes. Ed Fair

Ed Fair is absolutely right, but be carefull ! You can notice, that this is one of very few (if not unical) mkdev procedures, which is modal - it depends from previous call !
If something is wrong on second step, or you want to repeat it (as usual for complicated procedures like this) you can have troubles. And I do not know easy procedure to add a HD for reading, say with information from another SCO system, without rebuilding filesystems.

Make a good backup just before mkdev hd !

I have done mkdev hd & mkdev fs . It gives Fsmount error.
Kindly advice.

mkdev twice? reboot between? Ed Fair

There was a problem in the scsi controller. The solution is working now. Thank you very much.
