Hi,

I have got backup exec 9.6 running on a with 2000 server with a 12gb Dat Drive on a SCSI Card. I use this server to restore data from remote site which send there backup tapes to me once a month so i can run report from headoffic. The problem is that my company has Acquired 20 more remote site which use Travan TR-4 and Traven TR5 Backup devices. So i have install new tape drive on the seconard IDE channel. Windows and windows backup can both see the device. But i cant work out how to get backup exec to see them in the device view.

Cheers

Al

Backup Exec 9.6???? I'm guessing that's a typo and you mean 8.6. Anyways, do you have the Remote Agent installed on the remote servers?

Sorry yes i meant 8.6, The remote site are not on a wan, but the server on the remote site that have backup exec 8.6 installed and backup their data up to the media and then send them to me in the post. where i restore them on my server.

I think you need to look at geeting a module for BE to support multiple tade drives. It activates the Advanced Data And Media Management. Here is an excerpt from ththe BE site:

Library Expansion Option
Scale the media storage system by leveraging additional drives within multi-drive tape or optical autoloader/library storage systems. This option's Advanced Device and Media Management (ADAMM) technology provides extensive configuration and management capabilities to include "lights-out" backup and restore operations, bar-code reader and portal support for both SCSI- and Fibre-attached devices. Users can partition autoloader slots to target backup jobs to a specific slot.

From what I understand you need this to support multiple drives in any configuration. Hope this helps!
