I try to add IP500v2 R11.1 to the Server Edition R11.1 as Expansion Server. I performed all requiared steps as described, everything goes well until the very last moment where I got a message:
System could not be added to the solution. Reason: 500:Internal_conection_Error : 192.168.254.85
You will be redirected to the Solution section.

Any ideas? I know there is something wrong inside a current configuration I have, because with other condigurtion it worked. But what? Appriciate your help

Do you have a back in the ip500v2

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

I am sorry to say I am not fully understanding your question.

Did you mean "backup"? if so, I did not make any backups but config copy. Is that what you asked?

Had you already used this 500v2 chassis on another system?.
If so then you will need to default it so as no config exists in the chassis.

Then install it as if was new .

It probably has some sort of existing config from another system in it thus restoring that
config.

not sure what you mean

So have you installed it elsewhere.

Let me briefly describe what am I doing and why. My task is to re-create a part of customer topology in my lab.
Customer has a mesh network with nine IP500v2 connected by variety of SCN links.
Customer is planing to add Server Edition and consolidate all systems in one by converting existing IP500v2 into Expansion Servers.

So, I obtained a couple second hand IP500v2, this answering your question - if IP500v2 were brand new or used elswere. Yes, it there were used.

Than what happened: I used Web Manager to add server to the solution. And if I used IP500v2 with emply configuration which I got after "Erase configuration" command, conversion to Espansion Server failed.

If I used configuration I got from customer and installed by "Send configursation" comand, it worked. That explains my wording "it worked with enother config"

So, as I suggest there is some difference between the new (from scratch) and existing configuration sent by customer but I can not recon in what.

PS If there is any good documet describing transition from SCN to Serer Edition, I would higly appreciate the link to it

Ok .
You need to default the ipo 500 to basic edition.
Erase config and reboot.
When it starts up in basic mode you need to enable it to run in expansion mode.
Not standard mode as that makes it an ipo 500 stand alone.

You will be prompted to select an option …pick Expansion system.

Then if you have the expansion config for that unit you can restore that to the unit.

Thank you, snowman50,
it is more or less creal now how to attach the unit. I have chaked several options - it works, I do it by both Web Manager and Manager.

Could I ask you to look at my next post - the detachment proces seemed to be much more tricky.
I probably need to explain why do I need to detach IP500v2 after it has become an Expansion Server. I need this option in order to be able to quickly roll-back installation on customer side if something would go wrong.
