Need to add a dual PRI to 81C with a MSDL. Is there a method for choosing your DCH and Slotting the DUal PRI I know takes 2 logical slots but what cards in the network shelf can't it be sloted by?
As far as i know, the DDP can be put in any superloop slot in any network shelf as long as both slots of the superloop address are vacant. The MSDL, I believe, can go in any network slot
if you post your cequ we can better answer that question.. there are some basic rules.. an ipe requires 4 times the speech paths.. so if you have a network card at 4.. 5,6 and 7 are not going to be used.. past rls 5 you can't use daughter boards for dch's.. so you'll need a vacant port on an msdl..
try to keep the msdl in the same group as the dual card.. so if you lose a group you don't lose all the pri's in another group as well.. i usually map my msdls since you have to disable the msdl to load the new dch data, it helps if you can use a madl that you can disable without scheduled down time.. so stay away from a msdl that controls all your inbound,,
If I have a daughter board(NTBK51) Do I still need to use MSDL? If I do use MSDL if there are other DCH programmed on it I will need to disbable that one when connecting a new one? Here is a print out of CEQU and a DCH I will need to duplicate.
provided there's no sdi or msdl card sitting in 8-15, 24-27, 44-47, 56-59, 72-75, 82 and 90. you can add your ddp in any of those. The DCH duaghterboard has 2 ports on it, 0 and 1, the ddp card has to be option (dip swithes) to use the daughterboard or an external msdl.
Sounds like you have an On-Board DCH Daughter Board the only down side is only 2 ports available as suggested
0 / 1, same programming, residing within the same Network Group as that PRI/DDP.
DIP Switch settings for Device addressing and to tell its DCH is onboard
I was just notified this is RLS 5.5. I will have to use the MSDL card. JohnPoole you said if I connect to a MSDL card wiht other DCH built on it I will have to disbale to add a new DCH to it? If so what is the process for that? DIS MSDL X then LD 17 add the DCH to the MSDL?
I'm not aware of issues using DDP/MSDL DaughterBoard's on RLS5.5, but if you have a MSDL Card with ports spare and cables for external MSDL I would go with that
the compatability matrix we used when going to 5.5 from 3.0 was clear, lose the daughter boards.. i perfered those, no cables and you did not have to search for device number x hidden somewhere between cards..
in case you are up to speed on the msdl.. the device setting on the card has to be unique to the group but the card only uses backplane power, so you can plug it in any vacant slot in it's group.. so the vacant slots between 20 and 24, could be used for an msdl, but not a card that needs tn's
I am going to use the MSDL card so I need to run the cable to from the facplate of DDP to avail port on the MSDL. Based o nthe print out below I can user port 0 on MSDL 12?
