We need to double our disk storage on a Netware 5 server. Is that a difficult thing to do?

Not at all. Slap it in the box, assign it to a pool, create a Volume, be home in time for dinner.

If you want to expand an existing volume make sure you assign the new disk to the same pool the volume you want to expand is on.

IIRC, NW 5.x will let you grow a volume, but not shrink one.

Maybe I should have mentioned that we have a raid5 setup now with a total of 45 gig usuable space. We want to increase that to at least 80 gig of usuable space and we were planning on making it VOL2 rather than expanding VOL1.
Does your answer still apply?

Yep. After adding the drive(s) to the RAID it will show up as unassigned disk space.

This is the kind of thing that Netware really shines at.

That's kind of a sloppy answer, let me try to be a little less glib...

You will have to add the extra drive(s) to the RAID5 container using whatever config tools your RAID came with.

THEN it will show up in Netware as unassigned space.
