I have a car dealership that I am working with that wants to add either platronic CT-11/12 headsets or a cordless phone option to their service advisors. They have MLX-10D phones currently wired with only 2 pair (rewiring is not an option). They have a legend 4.0 with 3 full cabinets. They have 6 open MLX ports and 6 open ATL ports.

I was thinking the CT-11 with a MFM with an external power module as they only need to answer one line at a time.

But from what I was reading in thread689-907814, MERLINMAN said they would not be able to transfer the calls to another extension. Is this true?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I see in the Avaya programming guide that you cant transfer. Just as Merlinman said. That wont work for them.
Any ideas of a cordless solution for these folks. They need a total of 8 at this location.

You could, instead, get a TransTalk 9040 portable and plug the radio module into one of the open ATL ports - placing the radio module someplace reasonably central to the service area. The TransTalk would emulate a BIS-10 phone - and I would ideally run all 4-pair from the radio module to the ATL port. In any case - if you plugged the radio module into an existing cable run that goes back to the ATL module - it should work as well as their existing BIS-style phones.

Will the 9040 work with the Legend 4.0? For some reason I was thinking the 9031 was as high as I could go with the 4.0 legend.

The 9040 and 9031 are pretty much identical - so it should work. The 9040 is a more reliable phone as well - just make sure you get the correct radio module for the ATL card. I am using a 9040 on a very old Merlin 1030 - and it works just fine - as it does with a merlin 206, 410, 820, etc. Both TransTalks have a 900 ft range.
