I am using OSX Server 10.3.5 and use the Postfix and Cyrus mail systems. I would like to be able to 'attach' a confidentiality statement to each mail sent. You've seen the typical ...'If you are not the intended recipient ...'
We'd like that to be attached to all outgoing mail by default.
Anybody any idea how to do it?

That typically needs to be handled by the server. If the mail client can put it there, then it can take it away. Also, if webmail is used it needs to go there as well.

I don't have the answer, but there are companies that make such programs for Exchange. They've likely ported something to Linux by now.

lgarner, that's debatable and probably a philosophical issue. There are many purists that would argue that the MUA should never alter the contents of the mail, but since this not a forum for evengelism we can ignore that.

bluegroper, procmail works with the local delivery agent, and therefore only works for incoming.

alfatec, the most succinct way to do it would be to have postfix feed it to a filter would run a script and add your disclaimer, much the same way people configure to run spam and virus filters. Since I disagree that the MUA should alter mail, I'll just point you to the FILTER_README file which should have come as part of your postfix package.

Inflex (now xamime LT) will do what you want, along with a whole bunch of other things--though honestly I don't know if it will run on OS X (only systems I know running it are Linux, BSD, and I think one or two Solaris)

We initially started using it here just for the disclaimer functionality, and now I'm using the virus scanning, content filtering, filename and filetype matching for attachments, etc. I like it, though it runs a bit slow when you've got everything turned on.
