adding comment, date and author to Sourcefile on checkin?

Hello,

im looking for a way to add the comment, date and author to each sourcefile with an specific extension (i.e. *.vb). I found some related material on this stuff which tell about keywords, but i dont know how to use them.

What i have done so far: added the extension i want to the keyword_masks in the srcsafe.ini. I also added the keyword comments to it. Atr least i added $HISTORY: $, $DATE: $ and $Author: $ to the sourcefile i checked in, but nothing happens on check in...

Does anyone has a hint, on how to solve this problem?
