Adding auto-attendant to HiPath 3000.

I have been managing (I the term loosely) a HiPath 3700/3750 system for about six months doing the basics without much issue until recently when our front desk operator moved to another position.

I've been asked to see if it would be possible to upgrade our system to add an auto-attendant feature that will allow callers to search by name using the keypad.

I've done some searching online and haven't had much luck yet other than the 'PhoneMail' system seems to support this option.

I wasn't sure exactly what info to provide so please let me know if there is anything else that might help.

Shooting at straws here trying to be helpful....

I believe if you are going to find your answer it will be a function of the IVM. You would probably set your main number to ring in there and have it's auto attendant intercept the call (assuming it has those capabilities - I don't know that) and from there you can usually allow them to transfer to an extension - on most of my stuff the directory by name will only help with the voicemail subscribers and it doesn't know the names of any other extensions that don't have voicemail - so there usually is a search by name option as well, but it will be limited to the names in the system.

Sorry that's just a shot in the dark, but it might give you a direction to look. I'm not sure the switch can do it otherwise without connecting in something like an Interalia XMU or some other type of auto attendant device....

 
If you like to have a Dial by Name features with your Auto Attendant, You can use the Hipath Xpression. It haas a module IVML8 for the Hipath 3750.
