Hi there,

Im in the process of creating my website using ASP.

On my main home page i have a simple contact form for browsers to imput their contact detail and submit the data to my database.

As I'm using ASP on this page the homepage is therefore saved as homepage.asp (asp extension).

Is it possible to implement the asp code into a html file so my home page can be set to homepage.htm instead.

Will this help when optimizing my website for better hits via search engines like google?

Would appreicate your thoughts and comments.

Regards,
Tom

The file extention won't make a difference in modern search engines...

They don't look at the extention, they simply crawl the results - a view source on an ASP or HTM or HTML or PHP or ASPX or any other extention will yeild the same code...

The only way it could make a difference is if the current page already has an "HTM" extention and it is currently crawled and ranked pretty high - you will have to put in a redirect on the HTM page to the ASP page....

GOOGLE is a great resource to find answers to questions like "how do i..."

meaning put the script on a .asp page and use include on the html page?
