Ok so I have 5 Hard Drives

2 - mirrored for OS and profiles
3 - Raid 5 for data files and such

Operating system Win2k, RAID controller Adaptec 2011S

OK, so the hard drives are in, and working fine... I want to add another hard drive but as it's own volume, because of the amount of back up that needs to be done daily I want to back up to the new hard drive for speed.. then remove it from the new hard drive onto external media.

the cable that's connected to the raid controller has 6 ports .. 5 have hard drives on them and the last is terminated .. I removed the termination and added the hard drive .. it gimped my original setup I removed it and have to recreate my raid set ...

so my question is .. how do I just plain add a new drive?

doesn't the last hard drive act as the terminator as well ?

on if you enabled it to

personally if you do use this kind of method then i would alway use a proper terminator rather than the drive
