Hello all,

I understand that Linux (RH) allows a network card to have multiple IP addresses. But I can't find the command for adding another IP to my ethernet card eth0. I need to do this from the command prompt because for some unknown reason Linuxconf does not work properly in this machine. It often crashed with core dumped suddenly.

Does anyone know the command for assigning a second IP to eth0? I have looked into ifconfig, but could find the info from the man pages. Any ideas? Has anyone successfully done this before?

Thanks.

-YCL

1. Go to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts.
2. 'cp ifcfg-eth0 ifcfg-eth0:0'
3. edit ifcfg-eth0:0 and make the needed changes.
4. ifconfig -a

Works for me but still won't show up in linuxconf.

Emory
