Adding an extra exchange line to the D816

I have recently inherited a customer who has a Panasonic D816 PBX and they have asked me to connect another line to it. I have the manual but it isn't very clear about how to connect the line. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Also will I need to do any programming to it? Thanks in advance.

How many lines is there on it, if more he has 4 already, it will need a expandsion module on the door.

They have 5 lines so I assume the expansion module is already on the door. So it should take the extra line OK, shouldn't it?

If there is a 4 co expansion card on the door it takes a short time to add the line tell the td it is active and were you want it to ring...

So what software do I need to program it? Can I connect to it via USB? Thanks for the info.

no usb rs232 you dont need software for a simple line addition download the the programing guide do it through the key pad

Will there be a password on the system? Is it a standard password? Or could it have been set by the old telecoms company? If so it possible to reset it as I know the customer won't know what it is and the previous telecoms company have gone out of business.

if the password has been changed from default you shouldn't get involved unless you are prepared to re-initialize and reprogram the whole system!
