This should be simple. It is simple but since I do it
once every 3 years or so it doesn't stick in the gray
matter. I need to add an extention (100) as a primary
cover for extention 270. There is no phone on 270. You
get there when you push 3 after the AA answers. The desk
phone for extention 100 is an MLX-20L. I can easily do this
with the buttons on an MLX-10 but can't figure out how
to do it with SPM. What's the correct incantation to
add primary coverage for an extention?

Thanks?

Is 270 an actual unused system extension or adjunct? It has to be for primary coverage to work. If it is just a "guest" mailbox that exists in voicemail - then it will not.

TDaugirdas,

I guess it's a real extension. There's just no phone on it.
We have a few extension that the auto attendant directs
you to. Press 3 for sales (269), 4 for telecom support
(270), 5 for accounting (271), and so on.

The system print out has this:

EXTENSION INFORMATION

Extn SS/PP Type
270 8/ 4 UNEQUIPPED

CTI Link : No Alarms: ACTIVE
Pool Access :
Page Group :
Primary Coverage : 101 103 104 111 113 142 128
Secondary Coverage :
Coverage Group : 1
Group Coverers : 770

My phone has extension 270 on a button

Button 6 *40 PrmryCov 270 -I Status None

I want to add extension 100. Do I need to put it on
a button? The phone is an MLX-20L. Can I do this with
SPM or do I need to do it from the phone?

Thanks,
- Joel

It's probably easier to do it from the MLX-20L - I always find the green/red light status (on/off) difficult to see in WinSPM. The directions TouchToneTommy provided should work fine - and yes you need a "blank" button that you should label as primary cover for extension 270.

One last question on this. Once again I'm a bit fuzzy on
the terms from the legend docs. Extension 100 is the
pick one

control console
qcc
receptionist station

Does this complicate the picture at all

My manual (from 1998) says that *40 works at all phones
except the QCC.

Unless you have QCC operator positions set up (not typical - except in call centers), your MLX-20L is most likely a DLC operator phone AND also the designated programming phone. If you touch menu, system programming - you will see a listing of the DLC operator positions - I assume extension 100 will be the only one or at least one of them.

use QCC to a QCC backup / calling group with position busy, in the calling group, use auto log in putting in the stations who will cover the QCC console
