The girl in my position before me set up our phone system, she is no longer here and left no instructions. I attempted to follow the manual to add two next extensions and phones for two new employees with no luck. Here are my issues (I'm programming from ext. 10):

1) Ext. 32: Person using this phone can make calls but if someone calls into our main number and dials ext. 32, it says this ext. can not be found. What did I do wrong/how do I fix it?

2) Ext. 30: If someone calls into our main line and presses ext. 30, it does not ring to that phone, instead it rings to me at ext. 10.

Also, these two exts. do not come up in the company directory. Both have voicemail boxes set up though. Completely lost and would appreciate step-by-step directions. My employer will not pay for a tech to come and assist. Thank you!

You need to go into voicemail, go to attendant programming, and set-up selector code 3 for direct extension transfer.

From x10, press Feature 00, left intercom twice, then #310, assign both x30 and x32.

Thanks, but that did not work. Maybe I'm missing something? The program books did not tell me how to do this at all.

It's possible x30 is forwarded to x10. From x10, Try Feature 11, then put 30 30. This will forward 30 to 30.

For x32, if it says this extension cannot be found, either you have not set-up the mailbox properly or it is not apart of #310. You might want to try deleting and recreating that mailbox.

And your sure that selector code 3 under your attendant is set to direct extension transfer?

How do I do this/check this? Between the girl before me and me, someone half attempted to set up these extensions so essentially I am trying to fix them now but starting from scratch might be easier, yet I do not know how to do that.

On x10 do I just push Feature 11 or do I do something first? I really know nothing about this system, at all.

You can just press Feature 11, it will say "Forward:". This is where you enter 30 and 30 (just press it twice). Essesntialliy forwarding 30 to 30.

For the attendant: What version of voicemail do you have? That makes a difference on the steps. How do you log-in to change the attendant greeting?

Tried this and it still rings to me at x10.

No sure about the voicemail. I have not had to log in to change the attendant greeting yet and I don't even know how. I know if I press the VMM button on my phone it says: Transfer: 777 on the display and "Welcome to Avaya Partner Messaging, please enter extension number, followed by the pound sign." Not sure if that helps.

Thank you for bearing with me on this. I just wish they'd get a tech over here.

Partner Messaging, you need to log-in as administrator which is extension 0#, then password (they don't want us posting passwords on this site so hopefully you know the admin pswd), then 9 (it's a hidden option), then 3 for auto-attendants, then 1 for AA 1, then 1 for the day menu, then 6 to modify the menu, enter selector code 3, choose direct extension transfer, accept this, then press *#, then press # again to save changes without re-recording the greeting.

Just tried that and either I'm completely stupid or something is wrong with the whole phone system here because that still did not work.

It does not give me the same options as you have above. When I get to chose direct extension transfer it does not give me an option to accept anything.

Is there any way to delete these extensions and start from scratch? Is there like a step by step instruction page to start from scratch? The puny booklet has ZERO information. Not sure how the girl before me ever figured this out.

Avaya does have the Installation Guide for the Avaya Partner ACS posted on its website and available for downloading. The guide is large, but well worth having available.

Are any of the extensions in the 30 range able to receive calls, or do they all get the same message if you try to transfer to them?

Now.....are you able to get to the end of the following sequence without any trouble? (INTERCOM 777, then "0", the required password, 9, 3)

If things look hopeless, the company may really want to consider bringing in a local Authorized Avaya Business Partner to get things up & functioning normally in the system. [smile]

I [love2] "FEATURE 00

So, once you select direct extension transfer for 3, does it say "enter a selector code or to quit press *#"? If so, press *# there. Then you should get a msg saying something like "to record the greeting now or press # to save changes without changing the greeting message". You want to press # there to save your change without re-recording the greeting. If you never got this far, it wouldn't have saved 3 as direct extension transfer and hence would still not work.

That's because there is no option. When you choose say 3 as the selector code and then assign DET to it, you're done. What happens is when somebody presses 3 at the menu, the system will wait for the next digit and then dial the extension. So press 3 then 2 the system dials 32. So let's say you have extensions 10-48. You would need 4 selector codes, #s 1-4 with each of them assigned DET. See how that works?

You need the manual for the voicemail system. It is online.
