My setup:

A linksys 802.11G access point/router that has both wired and wireless devices accessing it. This access point is where my Internet connection is. The IP address of this device is 192.168.1.1 and it runs a DHCP server.

A linksys 802.11G to Wired Ethernet Bridge. The wireless side of this bridge connects to the 802.11G access point.

An old linksys 802.11B access point/router that I have disabled the wireless function on. Basically I want to use this device as a router for the wired subnet.

Here's the problem. On the 802.11B, I have the following devices: The ethernet cable from the "wired" side of the Bridge plugged into a LAN port. A Tivo. A Mac Mini. (Also in LAN ports).

I would like to configure the router so that:

1. Both the Tivo and the Mac Mini can access the Internet and the devices on the 802.11G network

2. Traffic between the Tivo and the Mac Mini does not go across the wireless network, but instead, only through the local subnet router. (the old 802.11B set up as a wired router - Let's call this router #2).

I have tried to set up router #2 as follows:

Device IP 192.168.2.1
DHCP enabled
A static route as follows:
Destination LAN 192.168.1.0
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Default gateway 192.168.1.1

I tried to ping 192.168.1.1 after getting an IP from the 192.168.2.* network, but nothing happens. Is there something that I am missing?

Any advice would be appreciated.

You will also need to set up a static route on the 192.168.1.1 for th network of 192.168.2.0/24 or whatever the network is to 192.168.2.1 so it won't take the default route out to the internet.

Thank you

Do my settings on router #2 look correct?

What would be the default gateway on the static route that I set up on the 192.168.1.1 router?

The gateway should be 192.168.2.1 (your other router) for the static route's gateway. Router 2 looks ok. The only thing you may want to do depending on your model is make sure your using the uplink port or the WAN port.
