Hi,

Need some help,

We have just run Forrest prep on our domain schema matster - and then ran domain prep on our infrastructure master and back up domain controller.
It all seemed to go through without any errors
We are looking to upgrade these 2 servers to 2003 in a week or so.
However we also have a new server that has been built , to take the place eventually of our primary domain controller(schema master)
This currently has win 2003 server installed on it.
We tried to run dcpromo (thinking this is what we needed to do) in order for it to be able to join the domain as another domain controller , however it fails everytime.

What do we need to do in order for it to join the domain as it stands - and then prep it to take over as the primary domain controller?

thanks for the help

Is the new 2003 computer a member of the domain?
why did you run domainprep on 2 servers? should only be run once.
Are you pointing your new 2003 computer to the dns server.

What is your error message. Also is the DNS settings on the server pointing to the correct DNS server. Also make sure your Domain Naming Master is online and available.
