How do you add a Vista box as a client?

I am assuming you mean add to a domain.

If you are using the default start menu, you can right click on computer which will bring up a splash screen, click on "Advanced System Settings" and from here is just like XP, navigate to the Computer Name tab and click the "Change" button, select the Domain radio button and enter in your appropriate domain, I would also recommend changing the name to something you are familiar with so you can navigate to it by name granted you have the correct records added automatically to your dns server.

Enabling the Guest account resolved the issue of accessing the server
