Hello,

I am trying to add a Polycom IP conference phone to a newly deployed CCME setup.

Through the GUI, it does not see the phone. To be expected I think because the CCME is running Cisco Skinny (think that is it).

Is there a way to add the phone on the CLI and force CCME to accept the sip connection from that one unit?

Thanks in advance.

From my last discussion with Cisco, CCME is SCCP only. It does not support SIP currently at all.
Now, this statement might change in future versions of CCME, but even as of latest rev, still only SCCP.

Let me append my previous message to be more specific in that CCME only supports SCCP on the inside (ie...to the handset). It does of course support SIP on the outside (ie... SIP trunks) to say like a telco/services carrier or to another IP telephone system.

Thanks for the info. I planned to look into adding a sip trunk down the road. I have not researched it yet as I am still get familiar with the curent Ciso setup.

We currently use pots lines and I want to add a few sip trunks to the mix with the pots lines with the hope that I can configure the CCME to use the pots line if the isp goes down.

Hi,

SIP endpoints are supported in CME Version 3.4 and higher... Download a newer IOS and you'll be able to register devices under the 'voice register global' command.

Thanks, pmoorey

So even if my current setup has all cisco voip phones I can add a sip phone that is not able to use cisco skinny? I would also ned to buy a license for that phone correct?

Thanks

Yes you are correct you can use both SCCP and SIP endpoints on one callmanager express 3.4 or higher.

With regards to licensing I would imagine that the same rules apply to SIP as they do to skinny, after all they are just different call control protocols.

SIP stations take more licenses then regular Cisco SCCP phones (at least they do on my system). They take a lot of licenses actually.
