Adding a Shortcut Key to a lnk file or creating system hotkey for App

I have been trying for a couple of weeks now to find information on how to add a keyboard combination to a .lnk file's Shortcut Key field, but have thus far been unsuccessful. I would appreciate instruction on how to do this, Or if this is not possible, how can I map a Key Stroke combination to windows, so that it will launch an app when the

Remy, simple<br>
Create a shortcut on the windows desktop for example or locate one you wish to create a shortcut key for.<br>
Select the properties for this file (right click the icon and select properties)<br>
On the Shortcut tab you will see a Shortcut Key text box. Just enter the required keystokes and click OK / APPLY<br>
Job done.<br>

But I already know how to do that, I meant by doing it either with Code, so it can be done on the Apps install / first run, or via setting the app as some kind of system resident service and capturing keystrokes to find the hotkey. <br>

I tried simply adding a shortcut to the install with VB5, but it keeps trying to follow the shortcut and add the executable that the shortcut points to.<br>

Any help here would be appreciated.<br>
