adding a second switch

I am adding a second switch at one of our remote locations. I have set it up and it is ready to be installed. Do I need to power down the other switch when I add it or shouldn't it just see it when I plug in in to the old switch?

No you don't have to power down the other switch just plug it in .

Make sure that if your network is running VTP, the new switch is not set as a VTP server.
