Guys,

One of my exchange servers is suffering and I have a second processor that I want to add. I know from bitter experience that although the Compaq Proliant recognises the second processor, win2K doesn't!!

I have been told that if after installing the processor I re-install Service Pack 6 it will pick up the second processor.

Any educated ideas whether this will work??

Thanks in advance,

MArtin

SP6?! I hope you mean SP3 otherwise I've got a problem!!! ;-)

I have a HP NetServer E800 at home with Win2k. It came with 1 processor but its a dual motherboard. All I did was plop it into the mobo and Win2k Picked it up. I was using SP2. Try it and see. Make sure you do a full system backup first but I can't see their being any problems.

Yeah, I was told Service Pack and my nt4 desktop head said sp6 :)

I tried it at home with my proliant 3000 but win2K advanced didn't pick it up. never tried the sp thing, did a rebuild.
