I need to add printers to our 3500 and when I use admintool it tells me it failed. I try to add the IP address of the printer to the portname but that doesn't work. Are there any other proceedures out there or more complete steps to take to add printers to Solaris? Our printers are all IP addressed, one of them is a jetdirect printer. Ther others are Xerox with network cards installed.
Thanks for your help!

If your printers are network attached and are also print servers, all you should have to do is modify /etc/hosts to add the name and IP of the print server and then use either lpadmin or admintool to add that printer as a remote printer.
Hope this helps. Too bad I.T. is not cash business
