Hello all, I am new here.

We are looking at adding a Pole Display to our custom (written in house) POS software. We do not use JPOS or OPOS and our printing is very basic just sending text files to our Epson TM-T88IV. (Parallel)

I would like to go USB rather than serial, but we do have an available serial port. Programming is going to be the problem. Any thoughts on where to start with that? I'm guessing we will have to send a com to the device after item is scanned? I don't have a device picked out yet, is there something specific to look for in this situation? Our app is written in vb.net and uses sql server 2000. (MSDE).

Thanks for any help!

In the old DOS days of Positouch they used what they called Y cables. One cable would split out the serial port and the pole display would use the same signals that the printer did. They make intelligent pole displays for this, kind of like the difference between an regular cash drawer and an intelligent cash drawer.
