Hello all,
I am trying to make a map in Illustrator, and a recurring problem I have is how to add a point where two lines cross, so I can fill up some of the forms that are created by the lines (=roads) to make a canal, for example.
Put simply, this is what I want:
If I make an X by drawing two seperate lines, I want to add a point where the lines cross. I can do this by selecting each line and adding a point with the pen tool and then join the two points, but this is very tiresome (since the points need to overlap). There must (?) be a quicker way.
Then I want to draw a square around the X so that I have 4 triangles, and I want to fill one of these triangles. How does Illustrator know that one of these triangles is the shape that I want to fill? I am looking for some kind of pathfinder-add-to-shape tool, but that does not work on lines. Converting the lines to shapes is not an option, because then I cannot change the thickness of a line easily.
Any suggestions?
Cheers!
