Can someone give me a quick synopsis of how to add a nic to an Acer server running sco?
I do not know which version of sco is currently installed yet.

The current server is currently not networked.

After I install the nic, will it be recognized automatically?

Are there supported and unsupported nics?

What software if any will I need after I install the nic.

What files will I need to modify like: resolv.conf, hosts, gateways?

Will I need the sco cd of the version they are running?
(They told me they do not have it any more)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.

Finding out the version of sco is what will determine the answers to the rest of the questions.

"After I install the nic, will it be recognized automatically?" possibly....depending on the version of sco and the nic. will it be configured automatically?..no

Typical sequence
1. Install card
2. Turn system back on (you did turn it off right?)sorry
3. log in as root and run netconfig (set hostname ip mask domain if installing tcp)
4. rebuild kernel and reboot
5. modify resolv.conf and hosts accordingly depending on situation.
