Hi. We have a 6x16 KSU with M7310 phones, and 4 incoming lines. What is involved in adding a 5th line to the system? Is all the programming handled from a M7310? Is there special programming needed on the KSU to have the new line added to the hunt group? Basically, should I do this or call a pro... ;-) ( I have done the basics like time, station names, etc )

Thanks..

You should call a pro. You will have the physical connections to make: such as bringing the dial tone from the demark into your suite, then cross connecting it to your system. After that you would need to program your system accordingly.
As for your “hunt groups”, this has nothing to do with the KSU. All hunting of one line to another takes place at the central office, and if that is how your setup works now, then you need to order the new line to be put into the existing hunt group from your local dial tone provider.

To add a new line 5. Get into Configuration by dialing "config" on your M7310 set, then your password. A template is needed to navigate your keys-Forward, back, heading and show. If you don't have it, it is the 4-square cap keys below the display. There are 2 on the left. The top on the left is the heading, below it is the back button. There are also 2 on the right. The top on the right is the show, below it is the next key.
After getting into programming, you will see terminals and sets. Go next to lines. Press show, your display will display line 001, press copy, look at your display, and copy line 001 to 005. Your line 5 is now programmed.

Then you have to allow your sets access to this line. I'm not sure if you are setup as a key system-"all lines appear on all sets" or as a hybrid " lines are in a line pool??
But you can add line 5 to one set, then copy the others. email me back if you need more help... Chris W

thanks for the info people. Sorry about the confusion on the "hunt" issue, the new line is part of the group. This line has been brought to the office demarc and is ready to go. The structural wiring I have done, from the demarc to a jack at the KSU. The KSU we have connects to the lines by patch cords. All our sets ( 9 )are programmed to show all lines, 1 to 4 on the right row of the 'line in use' display, top to bottom. The very bottom button is currently "page" and will be moved to the otherside replacing a never used feature. I have the programming template. When you say to copy the line 001 info to line 005, do you mean using the sets copy ability or re-enter the same info on line 005 ?

thanks

You can go in to Trk/Line data and copy line 1 to line 5. Or just program line 5 the way the others are if you like. Then you have to hit heading until you get back to Trk/Line Data and hit next to Line Access and press show, then enter your first set. Add line 5 and then hit next until you get to Ringing. Show that and hit next until you get to line 5 and then change it to Y or N depending on what you want. Default is yes I believe. I would go into each set and change the line access individually, because if you use the copy feature, all line access programming will be changed which could cause some problems, depending if all sets are exactly the same or not. ie Line Assignment, Ringing, Intercom keys, Prime Line etc.

aaahhh... OK, that's what I was wondering. I think I will do each set individually, like you said, and avoid any problems.

Thanks alot everyone !
