I have a client who running a business application using SCO Unix System V 3.2r4.2 on 386 with 360Mb SCSI2 disk. I wish to install an additional disk. I know that disks < 2GB a hard to find these days and I have also read the thread58-574549 that suggests 3.2r4.2 will not support disks over 2 GB. Any advice as to what type of disk to install would be gratefully recieved. Presumably following the instructions at will enable me to install the hard drive. Or are there any 3.2r4.2 specific features I should look out for.

Thanks in advance
Shaun

Others have been successful at using larger than 2gb by the proper use of divvy to limit the filesystems to 2gb.
Allows you to use up to 14gb by creating 7 filesystems. I've not used anything that large so I don't have personal experience.
Quick and dirty is:
mkdev hd to define the hardware and reboot
mkdev hd to set it up
mkdev fs to define the mount points and reboot

As I mentioned on the tread you speak of and as Ed Fail clarifies you can have a HD greater than 2GB as long as each individual filesystem is not longer than 2GB, and as long as the boot partition falls within the first 1024 cilinders.
As you already have a SCSI system it is somewhat easier for you, and you do not need to worry about the "boot" bit. Just buy any 9/18 GB HD and go ahead.

Installed one of 9gb for the practice. Install asked how many file systems I wanted to divide it into, and there is no swap. Took about 10 minutes to set it up.
You have to think through the naming of the filesystems and the mount points.
I named them u,v,w,x, and y with new filesystems as EAFS then mounted them under directories of the same name with mkdev fs.
