Can anyone assist me in adding a network printer? I am new to AIX and would like to print from my AIX 5.2 43p. There is a printer icon on my cde but when selected, displays an error of no printers. I tried to do a smitty printer but that only seems to only want to configure a parallel printer or a serial printer. Any help, hints or suggestions would be greatly appreciated on how to add a network printer.

hi,
when someone speaks about "Network Printer" he means that
it is not parallel or serial attached (local for him).
If the printer has a network card:
AIX speaking, you have to add
a "JetDirect" queue, while
WIN speaking, you have to add a
"local" print with "Standard TCPIP port"
If the printer is shared by another AIX computer,
in AIX you have to add
a "remote" queue
If you don't see JetDirect printer type in AIX, this
means it is not installed: install JetDirect attach driver
from AIX CD .
