Adding a <New> line to a list box?

I have a list box that populates serial numbers for motors listed in a table... how do I add a value to the listbox called <New> which I can parse out in code to prompt the user to enter a new serial #?

create a table (tblNew) with one field #serialnr : add one record with value <New>

then set the list recordsource to tblMain UNION tblNew, you could then check for the selected item's value.
