Hello,

Was wondering if someone could provide me with some brief steps on the correct way to Add a printer to a Linksys Router and have my computer (Windows 2000) see it...
Reason I want to do this is because I want another computer in the house (my sons) to beable to print to the printer also... Its not a wireless router.. I have my Cable Modem and both my PC and my Sons PC wired to the router... I have a HP Laser 4 Printer with a network card on it that I also want to plug into the router... What is the best way to configure it so that both PC's can see it... Do I need to assign it an IP address?... Please proide me some steps or maybe a web page with some ideas on it... I appreciate it...

Thanks
BC

Yes, you would need to assign it an IP address, on the same subnet as your computers.

If you have the software that came with the printer, install it as a network printer on each machine, providing the IP address of the printer, instead of telling it to print to the "LPT1" port, or such.

It's quite easy to do.

If you don't have the CD, it can still be done.

Add the printer, tell the computer it's a local printer. Then go to "Add Port", TCPIP port, and put in the IP address. That should be all there is to it, assuming you have the driver for the printer on the machine already.
