adding a dn to the voice menu through ld 23 into a mermail system

I am creadting a new Voice Menu (for the first time)and I need to asign a dn to it. I understand that this is done through ld 23. I have a meridian 61c with an old mermail system. Can anyone explane how this is done? I was throughly confused when I looked at ld 23

Decide what unused DN you are going to use (it has to be unused)
LD 23
New
ACD
MAXP = 1
NCFW = xxxx(same number you dial to access vmail)
Enter through all the other prompts.

When you dial the DN it will go into your voice mail. If nothing is built you will hear a message saying that mailbox xxxx does not exist .... If you have built something already, you will access it. Remember, what you build will all have to start with the DN you chose.

You also need to ensure the new ACD is entered in the VSDN table in Meridian Mail, and that VSDN entry is associated with your new Voice Menu, otherwise you'll get the 'ext xxxx does not subscribe to this service message'
