I'm creating 6 versions of a 300+ page manual. I've created buttons in InDesign that will send the reader to the next page, last page or back to the table of contents.

I'd like to create a button that will allow the user to search by Keyword. I can't seem to do this in ID. I know it can be done in Acrobat (although I don't know how). The person who added this functionality to last year's manual, created the button in photoshop, then had to paste it on every page, individually in Acrobat. (we are using 7.0 professional). Is there a way that he can put the button on 1 page (like a master page) and have it appear on all 300+ pages?

...create the button in acrobat on page one, with the button selected choose to activate a menu item, click add...

...choose the menu item...

...right click the button and choose 'duplicate' on all pages...

...you can create a button on one page in indesign then set the action in acrobat as above...

..duplicate on all pages as above...

...must have been quite painful for your colleague to have to copy and paste to 300 pages, ouch!

Actually, it was....

I figured out how to create the button in InD and assign the action in Acrobat.

Do I have to assign the action to each individual button (300 times for 6 manual)? Or can I create or run some type of batch to do this automatically?

If I go to Advanced>Forms>Field>Duplicate - will it duplicate the assigned action as well?

...the answer to the above queation is yes, this is the same as right click the button and choose 'duplicate' on all pages...

Andrew

...the action as well as position is preserved...

Andrew

...to add...

...you can also assign multiple actions to one button in acrobat, in your example, you can have one button to perform both your actions at once if required...
