Hello:

I am in need to upgrade a 4.3 system but the root drives are only 1.7gig. I need to move rootvg to a much bigger disk before hand.

Is the best way to run a mksysb, then pull out the 1.7gib disk, then put in my larger disk, then restore the mksysb back to them?

Or do i add the disk in, then use a migratepv to the new larger disk, which to me can get messy when you remove the hdisk0 and hdisk1.

I am thinking the mksysb restore is the only way to do this clean??

Thanks
Scott

I'd go the mksysb route, if it goes wrong you can also just plug the original drives back in and be up and running in minutes.

You may also try alt_disk_install.

In my way tht's the better choice to go back to the original config if a problem appears

Thanks...

I was looking into the alt root install, however I was not sure how it would handle, removing the old hdisk0 and hsidk1 if it intalled to the alt disk say hdisk3 ok, then i pull the old smaller disk, hmm maybe i dont have to i just need to identify now the boot list is that disk to use.

thanks
